Jimmy Neutron: Jet Fusion
The major flaw JF has is that, for its target audience, it's just too hard.

OK, OK; I know what you're probably thinking. Not another Nickelodeon game! Well hold on, that's what I was thinking when I first popped this disk into my lovely little purple cube. But I was pleasantly surprised. It's actually a half decent game. It does, however have a very targeted audience but once you get past its first layers, Jimmy Neutron: Jet Fusion is an alright game.

JF's graphics are nothing short of mediocre. You can't really look at it and say: “WOW!” but it's not like you can say: “Is that a gun or Jimmy's arm?' There is nothing to really to stand out in this game good or bad. One thing that deserves mentioning, is Jimmy's little sidekick doggy: Goddard. He constantly follows you around, giving you advice and doing things for you. His animations, I feel, could've really been screwed up gut they were executed nicely. It manages not to be a problem at all.

Jet Fusion suffers from what many platformers of this type suffer from, what is commonly known as a clunky camera system. At many times the camera controls seem almost backwards at times and it takes ages to actually get used to controlling it. Other than the initial camera frustration, JF's graphics are, as was said before, mediocre.

Sound, Sound, Sound! It can make or break a game... well, OK, not really but it's still really important. JF has accurate sound affects, which is good. What isn't good is the repetitive, looping background tracks. I mean, come on, spend a little time on the background music, guys! If all you can focus on in the game is the repetitive soundtrack, you got a problem. Thankfully it's not all that bad on this game, especially since the target audience probably won't notice or care.

With bonus levels and a lot of things to collect in each level, Jet Fusion scores high in this category. Way to go! However, you won't want to play this game through more than once. Even the most die hard Jimmy fan probably couldn't stand it much more than once. So, kind of so-so, overall.

It's simple enough. You can change it to your liking if the default arrangement doesn't suit your needs. Other than some initial camera control frustration, it doesn't present any other problems. Thumbs up.

Jump, collect, jump collect, jump collect. ALAS! This is the life of a platformer. And this is what you'll spend your life doing while you play Jimmy Neutron. However, the levels are so linear that if you glance over one, little area you may find yourself desperately running through the level trying to find that one item you need to collect before you can move on, which is not fun. Although, once you get the message that you have to be anal retentive while going through the level, you tend not to miss much anymore but it still happens and it really isn't enjoyable to got through the levels more than once! The overall design of levels is pretty good, though. You usually have to collect two sets of items in each level, one weapon set and an "invention set". When you get to the end of a level, you then use the invention items to make(of all things!) an invention to go through some big obstacle to get you to the next level. Pretty clever idea, I thought.

The major flaw JF has is that, for its target audience, it's just too hard. The little kiddies that love Jimmy Neutron so much will be frustrated and probably won't hold there attention for this game very much. Either that or they run to their older brother, sister or Mom or dad to help them get past the level. Who knows, I may be underestimating the younger set here, but I don't think so. People of the world, you will have to decide whether or not your little (or big too, I guess) Neutron fan can deal with the game.

Well, it's a decent game but it really doesn't seem to be in the difficulty range of most of its fans. If your pride can stand owning a Nickelodeon game, you older folks might wanna pick this one up. Otherwise, it's probably not worth it, except for the most die-hard Jimmy fans.
