I've always enjoyed playing cartoonish looking games. They always seem to be addictive, bright, colorful and vibrant. Oops did I say always. I might have made a mistake. You see there is always 1 or 2 of them that aren't all that great at all. Was this one of them? Well read on and find out.
Pac-Man is back but on Gamecube, in an all-new 3D world. He'll leap through the bright grassy areas, skate on that sparkling clear ice and sweat while he's trying to get out of volcanos. But he won't rest until he finds who took all of the golden fruit. Your mission is to find whoever stole the city's golden fruit and get it back. When completing each area's environment you will have to fight one of the goons that will give you a golden fruit if you beat him. While playing these levels you will notice little brown tokens. Collect as many tokens as you can. These tokens allow you to unlock new games in the city's arcade. The arcade games include, Pac-Man (Original Arcade Version) Ms. Pac-Man (Original) Pac-Attack (Original) and a 3D Pac-Man maze. You can also collect little yellow niblets to regain your health. The levels are fairly hard and a little short but it's still plenty of fun.
Bright, colorful and vibrant. That's what describes Pac-Man's graphics. With it's cartoonish kiddy like graphics it almost looks like a Playstation graphical game. In some parts of the games they could have taken more advantage of the Gamecube's graphical capabilities. On the other hand, Pac-Man's sound effects and music were pretty good. The sound effects and music were very crisp and smooth. I found that the music matched each levels type of environment perfectly. The only default that I had found in the music was that it took a couple of seconds for the song to restart when it finish's. That was a little annoying.
Overall I found that the graphics and sounds were pretty much average. They could have done better on the graphical features.
Pac-Man is too short. I found the levels really short and a little straightforward. The levels are fairly easy and the controls are a snap to memorize. Though the levels are short and easy they provide a fair amount of enjoyable fun. One of the best features in the game was the exciting arcade mini games. The more tokens you find in your adventure, the more classic Pac-Man arcade games you can unlock and enjoy! Overall I found the gameplay fairly amusing, but if it weren't for the arcade games I would have given it a lower score.
Overall- Pac-Man World 2 is a definite rental, and do not buy this game unless you are a real hardcore Pac-Man fan.
