Game and Watch Gallery 4
Nintendo displays its original puzzle games in this 4th installment!

Fans of Super Smash Bros Melee should know of an old-school character called Game & Watch. Game & Watch was in fact a handheld series released by Nintendo way before the original Gameboy and even before the NES. Game & Watch Gallery 4 is simple a compilation of Game & Watch games transferred over to the Gameboy Advance with an updated version of each game and even the old-school classic version of each game.

Game & Watch Gallery 4 comes with six games already unlocked for you: Donkey Kong Jr., Donkey Kong 3, Fire, Boxing, Rainshower, and Mario’s Cement Factory. Even more games can be unlocked by gaining five stars in each game for a whopping 11 games total in all. To obtain the hidden games players will need to collect stars in each game. A star is worth 200 points each. So you will need 1000 points in each game to unlock a new game which can become very tiresome and boring as these old-school games don’t pack quite the punch as most gamers are use to these days. If Nintendo wouldn’t have included the instant save feature I would have literally died playing all these games straight through.

Along with the mini games, players will have access to a Music Room to listen to the old style music goodness, hints for already locked games, and even a Gallery Corner. Along with this, players can upload Donkey Kong 3 and Boxing to another gamer using the Gameboy link cable and play a little multiplayer against each other.

Each mini-game contains the same retro music style to it while adding updated graphics. The graphics for each game are still very some what simplistic as they are based on their predecessor, but as the saying goes, “don’t judge a book by its cover”, as this game is actually really fun to play for those long and boring road trips. But for gamers who are nurtured by today’s games and would like to know how video games got their start, this is the perfect place to play some old-timey games. Gamers who love variations in today’s games should definitely stay clear, as the only reason to play these games over and over again are to unlock more games or beat your high score.

For gamers who are looking for some old school fun they should look no further that Nintendo Game & Watch Gallery 4 as this is a great game for a mere $19.99.
